Massive B-movie celebration Sept. 26-28

Franklin, Indiana, will be hosting the Second Annual B-Movie Celebration September 26th thru 28th, 2008. The Celebration will feature screenings of more than 50 classic B-movies, 20 educational seminars and the “world’s largest beach party,” featuring the music of The Moon-Rays.

Charlton Heston, 1923-2008

Legendary actor Charlton Heston died early Sunday morning. He was 84. Heston is most notably remembered for his roles in epic films like BEN-HUR (1959) and THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1956). I most recently saw him in THE OMEGA MAN (1971) loving every world-ending second.

Anthony Minghella, 1954-2008

Director Anthony Minghella died today from a hemorrhage after surgery for cancer. He directed such films as THE ENGLISH PATIENT (1996), THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY (1999) and COLD MOUNTAIN (2003). It’s always sad to see a talented artist slip away. He was 54.

Roy Scheider, 1932-2008

Roy Scheider passed away yesterday having lost his battle with cancer at the age of 75. I think we’ll all of course remember him best for his role in JAWS as Chief of Police Martin Brody.

Amazing resource for horror film scores

Looks like many horror film scores are available for free download. Not sure of the legality of it all, but it sure looks intriguing if you don’t mind the compressed files.
